🤖 AI & Society
I found GitHub repositories that were spreading malware. I asked AI what to do about it, but it gave me nothing useful. So I opened a discussion on GitHub. It was the exact same text the AI had given me. I called it out and the comment was deleted.
Actionable Insight
This anecdote vividly illustrates the current limitations of AI in providing actionable advice for complex, real-world problems like cybersecurity. More critically, it highlights a concerning trend where human discourse online may increasingly mimic generic AI-generated content, potentially stifling genuine problem-solving and leading to censorship when AI-like platitudes are challenged.

🚀 Future of Work
So, apparently we are at the cusp of the entire world’s white collar workforce
(and, by extension, much of the US workforce) undergoing a revolution in
productivity. AI is the technology that is going to revolutionize the way we
work, the way we interact with the world, the way we learn, the way we
socialize, and all of this. Everything
getting faster and easier would be an extraordinary boon to all of our lives. If AI is going to 10x our productivity across the board, that means that I
should be able to produce the same amount of output by midday on Monday that, in
the before times, would have taken all week. From here on out, I’ll work Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, and then take Friday off.
Actionable Insight
This piece astutely questions the conventional application of AI-driven productivity gains, positing that exponential efficiency should translate into reduced work hours rather than merely increased output. It highlights a critical societal choice: will we leverage AI to elevate human leisure and work-life balance, or will the historical trend of demanding more output for the same pay persist, ultimately diminishing the revolutionary potential for human well-being?

📈 Search Trends
DuckDuckGo's AI-free search saw nearly 28% more visits in the week following Google's insistence that people love AI mode | PC Gamer
Actionable Insight
This surge in DuckDuckGo traffic directly contradicts Google's narrative on universal AI acceptance, revealing a significant user segment actively seeking traditional, AI-free search experiences. It underscores potential user fatigue with AI overreach, privacy concerns, or a preference for non-curated results, indicating a growing niche market for alternative search paradigms.

productivity-suite for teams who prioritize data ownership and customizability. Its innovative "two doors" approach—offering both an out-of-the-box solution and an extensible platform—is particularly strategic. This dual nature could significantly foster community engagement and innovation, positioning it as a powerful open-source alternative to proprietary cloud offerings.
A self-hosted productivity suite for your team - and the platform
you build the next app on top of. Standard protocols, own your data,
free forever. Two doors into the same project. One leads to a working productivity
suite for your team in fifteen minutes. The other leads to a
platform you can build the next app on top of.

The provocative term "AI psychosis" suggests a critical view on the current state of decision-making among tech leaders, implying they may be suffering from irrational exuberance or even delusion regarding the capabilities and immediate impact of artificial intelligence. This highlights a concern that the intense hype surrounding AI could be leading to a collective detachment from reality, potentially resulting in misguided strategies, inflated expectations, and a lack of grounding in practical application.

Canada's decision to procure military aircraft from Sweden, rather than its traditional US suppliers, signals a significant strategic shift in its defense procurement strategy. This move could be driven by a combination of factors, including specific technological advantages of Saab's GlobalEye, cost-effectiveness, or a desire to diversify its supply chain and enhance interoperability with European partners. Such a departure holds notable implications for Canada-US defense relations and the competitive landscape of the global defense industry.
